Questions to Ask When Moving to a New Apartment

Get the Info You Need

If you're preparing to move into a new apartment, you'll want to make sure all your questions are answered before signing a lease. Having a complete understanding of expectations, obligations, and alternatives helps relieve some of the uncertainty and anxiety associated with relocating and makes moving in and acclimating easier for everyone.

But what questions should you ask? Here are a few questions many of our residents had before moving into our apartments at The Wylde.

Can I make changes to my apartment?

Even if you're renting, you should still feel free to make your space feel like home. To remain in compliance with resident policies, however, be sure to ask whether you can change or modify things like wall color, wall and light fixtures, and other interior/exterior items.

Who are the local utility providers?

Depending on where you live now, your internet provider may be different when you relocate. For example, The Wylde has negotiated a favorable rate for high-speed internet and cable – all residents pay for this service as required by the provider agreement. Ask your leasing agent which utility providers you’ll need to contact to ensure everything’s up and running when you move into your new apartment.

Is there parking?

If you have a car, you'll want to find out how to register it with your leasing office, where you can park, where guests can park, and whether reserved carport parking is available. Your leasing agent can explain all of that for you.

What's your pet policy?

Be a great pet owner by keeping yourself informed of your apartment's pet policies, and feel free to ask other pet-related questions, such as whether there’s a fenced-in dog park on the property (The Wylde does have a fenced-in dog park).

Who should I call if there's an issue in my apartment?

Ask for the phone number to call for routine and emergency maintenance requests, so you can be prepared if anything goes wrong. The Wylde also offers an online resident portal for easy communication and service requests.

The Wylde at Eagle Creek’s friendly staff is eager to answer any questions you may have. Ready to make one of our newly remodeled apartments on the west side of Indianapolis your home? Call us at (317) 293-8559.
